As the 4th in their series of silver coins commemorating fairy tales from around the world, the National Bank of Belarus has issued this stunning antiqued silver coin in honor of the Urals tale of the Stone Flower. The story sees Danila, a stone carver, who wishes to convey true beauty through his stone creations. He falls in love with Katerina and decides to create for her a malachite vase that is as simple and as beautiful as a flower. To do this he ventures to the underground where he meets the Queen of the Copper Mountain, who helps Danila but wants him for herself. However, with the love between Danila and Katerina so obviously strong, the Queen sets Danila free with the secret to creating beauty from stone, and the young lovers are able to return to their village.
At the centre of the reverse is an image of the stone flower, with an embedded zircon crystal in it's centre. Below the flower is Katerina and Danila, with the Queen of Copper Mountain between than symbolised by the lizard. To the left are two stylised birds together forming a love heart, while to the right is the malachite cup. Filling the rest of the space are stylised stones. At the top is the inscription "КАМЕННАЯ КВЕТКА"(THE STONE FLOWER). The obverse shows two children reading a book of fairy tales whilst sitting on a crescent moon. Above them is the inscription for "Republic of Belarus" with the Belarus State Emblem in the middle. Below is the year of issue and the denomination of 20 Roubles (ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ).
The coins have been oxidised to give them an antiqued appearance and are supplied in capsules accompanied by a Certificate.
