AQ126 - Belarus 2005 20Ru Symon The Musician Fairy Tale Silver UNC

The 3rd in the series of silver coins issued by the National Bank of Belarus to honor various fairy tales is dedicated to the Yakub Kolas story of Symon the Musician. Published in 1925, Symon the Musician tells the tale of Symon, a kind hearted musician who sets out on a Homer-style Odyssey, meeting many different people and getting into plenty of trouble along his path towards freedom of creation. The reverse design of this coin features an image of Symon to the left playing his violin. To his right is a Belorussian landscape, including a castle and peasant house. Above that is a traditional Belorussian ornamental pattern which contains an embedded zircon crystal of orange colouring. At the bottom of the coin is the inscription "СЫМОН–МУЗЫКА" (SYMON THE MUSICIAN). The obverse, common to coins in the fairy tales series, shows a girl and boy sitting upon a crescent moon reading from an open book of stories. Above them is the inscription "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) with the State Emblem of Belarus between them. Below the children is the year of issue and the nominal face value inscribed as "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ" (20 Roubles). Each coin is encapsulated and accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity. The coins have been through a special oxidising treatment to give them an "antiqued" appearance.
